NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand's geographic isolation for 80 million years and island bio-geography is responsible for the country's unique flora and fauna. Presenting a striking case of creation from destruction are the pristine and tranquil waters of LakeTuapo, a result of a violent volcanic eruption. Similar is the story of the city of Rotorua, land of exuberant geysers, hot springsand boiling mud pools which are intriguing in appearance and terrifying in essence. In stark contrast to the volcanic safaris is the calmer side of nature mirrored in the gorgeous aquatic life of seals, penguins and dolphins; and the dense undergrowth of New Zealand's evergreen forests. With a special fondness for food, the country organises a wild food festival where everything from sheep eyes to venison tongue is daringly devoured.
